Puna’s professional experience covers senior management and governance roles within various sectors including legal, tribal development, tertiary education, conservation, central and local government, community health and fitness, and well-being, not for profit, and social development.

Dedicated to te reo o Taranaki me ōna tikanga, Puna is currently Te Rau Titikura, General Manager Shareholder and Taiao Engagement at Parininihi ki Waitōtara and Manager of the PKW Trust.

She is an accomplished public speaker, and a highly respected educator, advocate and advisor on: Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori land issues; reconciliation; Māori community engagement; Taranaki mātauranga Māori and the interface with science; and organisational and strategic cultural framework design and implementation.

Puna is an uri of Parihaka, Taranaki Iwi, Te Atiawa, Ngāti Mutunga, Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Maniapoto and Ngāti Awa.
