What you can expect

 Hauora ā-Whānau Whaitara (previously Whaitara Health Centre) is a full-service general practice (GP) clinic which supports enrolled whānau with:

  • Medical consultations and appointments with a registered:
    • General Practitioner
    • Nurse Practitioner
    • Registered Nurse
    • Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP)
    • Physiotherapist
  • Assessment and treatment for minor accidents
  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Regular recall for breast examinations, cervical smears, diabetes checks and immunisations
  • ACC Consultations
  • Pregnancy tests and support
  • Contraceptive advice and prescribing, sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment
  • Contraception insertion – IUD’s and Jadelles
  • Six-week new baby checks
  • Liquid nitrogen treatment
  • ECG & Spirometry
  • Driver’s Licence Medicals

Health Done Differently

Hauora ā-Whānau Whaitara (previously Whaitara Health Centre) is part of Tui Ora, which has a holistic view of care, ensuring whānau can access a wide range of services and overcome many traditional barriers to health and wellbeing.  We can refer to all Tui Ora services, including our Rongoa service through which whānau can receive funded (free) mirimiri.

Costs

Standard consultation fees for enrolled patients:

  • Child 0 – 13 years | Free
  • Child 14 – 17 years | $13.50
  • Adults over 18 years with CSC | $20.00
  • Adults over 18 years without CSC | $25.00

All nurse fees

  • Child 0 – 13 years | Free
  • Child 14 – 17 years | $10.00
  • Adults over 18 years | $15.00

Prescription charges:

  • Routine request (3 working days) | $16.00
  • Urgent requests (within 1 working day) | $26.00

Health Improvement Practitioner | FREE

All fees charged are for a 15-minute consultation. Double appointments are available if required.

Additional charges apply for:

  • Longer consultations or additional services provided
  • Prescriptions
  • Non-attendance of an appointment without prior notice
  • Administration fee on accounts not paid at the end of the month
