Te Piringa Wara Petipeti

Māori kaupapa support for those impacted by gambling.

Who can use this service?

Any Taranaki Whānau concerned about their own — or someone else’s — gambling.

Why use this service?

Te Piringa Wara Petipeti is a programme that provides a safe space for whānau dealing with the impact caused by gambling to share experiences, acknowledge the power of addiction and be supported on a journey to recovery.

What you can expect

The programme brings mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori together with modern clinical health practices in an innovative way that draws on the individual experience to help foster understanding.

Meaning ‘The Safe Haven from Gambling’, Te Piringa Wara Petipeti helps whānau address the financial hardship, mental health struggles, and the loss of family connection gambling can cause.

We can also help facilitate Multi-Venue Exclusions (MVE), which is an effective way to help prevent the urge to gamble by reducing access to gambling venues. We can help you select which ones to include. Once an MVE is in place, venues and operators agree to support you to leave if you do go in.
