Mana ora

Living a powerful life

Serving

Taranaki whānau

since 1998

Inspirational headline

Established more than a quarter of a century ago, Tui Ora is the largest community-based health and social services provider in Taranaki, employing more than x and delivering 50+ services to whānau through north and coastal Taranaki. Our kaupapa is improving health equity and supporting Taranaki whānau to live powerfully.

Tui Ora embraces Te Ao Māori ways of thinking, doing and being. During our 25-year history we have built strong relationships with the whānau, hapu and Iwi we serve (and are owned by) and the many health, government and community organisations we work collaboratively with.

Tikanga O Tui Ora

Tui Ora is a values-led organisation. Our Tikanga O-Tui Ora is the promise we make to ourselves, our colleagues and partners and the whānau we serve about what they can expect when they work with us. It is based on four uara.

Manaakitanga

The literal breakdown of this kupu — mana aki tanga — means to encourage or urge mana upon someone else. That is, to take care of someone else. Manaakitanga is about nurturing relationships and respecting and developing self-worth in others.

Wairuatanga

Whether we’re aware of it or not, every person has a taha wairua or a spiritual side. Our Wairuatanga is deeply elemental, an expression of our intimate connection to our maunga, awa, moana, marae, tūpuna and atua. Wairuatanga is an essential part of wellbeing.

Tino Rangatiratanga

This is all about how we lead and how we participate. Tino Rangatiratanga is about people having the mana to decide things for themselves. Being in control, having oversight and taking responsibility for ones actions is empowering.

Kotahitanga

Kotahitanga is about how we stand together and the strength than comes from being united in purpose. It’s about accepting that we all have different opinions and experiences but that we can come together to achieve great things.
